What happens on a tandem flight
On a tandem flight you sit in front of your pilot, in your own harness. Your pilot steers, you just enjoy it. At take-off you run a few steps into the wind together, then the wing lifts you off. In the air you sit comfortably, like in an armchair.
From the Gerlitzen Alpe you descend about 1,400 metres, in an arc over the middle of Lake Ossiach. You land on our own landing field in Bodensdorf. At the end you lift your legs or run out a few steps.
Is it safe?
Our pilots hold the legal tandem licence and liability insurance. Wings, harnesses and helmets are checked on a fixed schedule. We only fly when the weather is safe. The pilot team makes the decision on the day.
What if I'm afraid of heights?
Many guests with a fear of heights find the flight surprisingly pleasant. It feels different from standing on a lookout tower, because there's no solid ground right below you for your eyes to fix on. Tell your pilot before take-off, and they'll fly extra gently.
